Incentivizing Workplace Wellness

We created a full suite of iOS, Android, and web apps. This corporate wellness step tracking solution encourages employees to walk and move more and keep track of their progress.
Corporate wellness programs don’t need to be complicated. With the increased adoption of wearable activity trackers, walking “step” competitions are an easy way to incentivize wellness among employee populations. Health2Wealth, a startup company, saw the need to reduce HR time and effort of tracking these competitions manually with spreadsheets and engaged SEP to imagine a solution.
As part of an MVP effort, the first step was to build a challenge-based site that accessed Fitbit.com’s API and aggregated daily step data for individuals and teams. The site was then published on an internal display to conduct user research. Making current fitness statuses public sparked engaging competition between employees.
A cross-functional team of designers and developers worked together to build the next phase of the product. We integrated with multiple fitness trackers, including Fitbit, Garmin, Misfit, and even iPhone, Apple Watch, Android phone, and other Google Fit compatible devices to measure steps. We built iOS and Android apps using the cross-platform tool Xamarin. We also created a corresponding web-based dashboard.
We implemented features that allow company administrators to easily set up new employees in the system, manage incentives, and send reminders to participants when they need that extra boost to meet their goals. Users can receive SMS messages to update them on milestones they are close to achieving. The flexible incentive feature allows users to incorporate cash bonuses, gift cards, and/or time off based on their preferences (and budget!).
