SEP Named a Best Place to Work for 10th Consecutive Year

February 19, 2019

SEP was recently named as one of the Best Places to Work in Indiana. This 14th annual program was created by the Indiana Chamber of Commerceand Best Companies Group.

This statewide survey and awards program is designed to identify, recognize and honor the participating employers in Indiana with the leading workplace cultures. The list is made up of 125 companies.

Winning companies represent nearly 30 cities and towns across the state. In addition to Indianapolis, multiple winners hail from Bloomington, Carmel, Chesterton, Fishers, Fort Wayne, Michigan City and Muncie.

“We have many tremendous employers in the state, so it’s great to see more and more companies take part in this effort to evaluate their workplace cultures and gain the recognition they deserve,” says Indiana Chamber President Kevin Brinegar. “These companies consistently demonstrate to their employees how much they value their contributions.”

To be considered for participation, companies had to fulfill the following eligibility requirements:

– Be a for-profit, not-for-profit business or government entity;
– Be a publicly or privately held business;
– Have a facility in Indiana;
– Have at least 15 employees working in Indiana;
– Be in business a minimum of 1 year.

Companies from across the state entered the two-part survey process to determine the Best Places to Work in Indiana. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. This part of the process was worth approximately 25% of the total evaluation. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. This part of the process was worth approximately 75% of the total evaluation. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final rankings. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process in Indiana, analyzed the data, and determined the final rankings.

Winners were selected from four categories: small companies of between 15 and 74 U.S. employees; medium companies of between 75 and 249 U.S. employees; large companies of between 250 and 999 U.S. employees; and major companies with 1,000 or more U.S. employees. Out-of-state parent companies were eligible to participate if at least 15 full-time employees are in Indiana.

The 2019 Best Places to Work in Indiana companies range in Hoosier employee count from 15 to more than 1,800.

Organizations on this year’s list that have displayed sustained excellence during the program’s 14-year history receive additional recognition.

Hall of Fame companies are those that have been named a Best Place to Work in Indiana at least 60% of the time in the program’s history (or nine out of 14 years). SEP became a Hall of Fame company in 2016.

“It doesn’t seem like it’s been 10 years since we first appeared on the Best Places to Work in Indiana list, debuting at #1, said Traci Dossett, SEP’s Chief Operating Officer.  “We’ve added over 100 new employees since then and are so honored to continue to be recognized year after year. It’s a wonderful affirmation of the great culture we’ve built and its ability to stand the test of time.”
