Opportunity
From Fragile Spreadsheets to Scalable Systems
DKP analysts managed critical payer data in a massive Excel tool that was fragile, slow, and difficult to maintain. The stakes were high: pharmaceutical manufacturers rely on this data to decide where to launch therapies, while providers and patients depend on it to know what treatments they can access.
DKP needed a modern, sustainable platform that could keep pace with their growing business and client demands.

Solution
Building a Scalable Hub for Reimbursement Intelligence
We started by digging into DKP’s Excel system. It wasn’t just a spreadsheet—it was the backbone of their analysts’ daily work, with thousands of rows and columns driving critical client reports. By breaking it down, we saw how it worked, where it slowed them down, and how fragile it had become.

Partnering with Analysts
Next, we worked side by side with DKP’s analysts. We shadowed their work, asked questions, and studied how they created reports.
We saw how much time was lost to manual entry, how broken formulas created stress, and how hard it was to scale insights. Those lessons shaped the new product.
Together, we aimed for a tool that felt familiar enough to use right away, but strong enough to grow with DKP’s business.

Designing Through Feedback
We built early prototypes and put them in front of analysts. Their feedback guided every step, making sure the tool matched real-world needs.
Instead of replacing the Excel system all at once, we moved tasks over in phases. This reduced risk, built trust, and allowed adjustments as the tool rolled out.
Expanding Capabilities
With the core workflows in place, we expanded beyond what Excel could offer. We added Custom Monitoring Fields so DKP could track unique client data. We created a secure Client Portal where clients could access reports directly. And we launched Interactive Maps—mini-sites that turn complex coverage data into clear, visual insights. These maps not only support patients and manufacturers, they also became a new stream of recurring revenue for DKP.
In the end, the solution did more than replace a fragile spreadsheet. It gave DKP a sustainable, scalable platform that now supports their client-facing work and opens the door for new services.
