Overview

AI coding assistants proved their value for some teams, and that success raised a question: where else could AI create similar breakthroughs in software delivery? Microsoft, GitHub, and the DORA Report showed that developers spent 20% of their bandwidth writing code and actual time spent coding was only 8% of the overall software development cycle. How could we leverage AI tools to improve the rest of the software lifecycle?

In this talk, we shared real examples from SEP projects. These examples revealed a surprising truth about where AI could transform how software gets built and delivered. Attendees saw ways we applied AI in practice when writing code. More importantly, we showed why only focusing on coding assistants left opportunities on the table.

This session was for you if:

  • You were a product or tech leader trying to separate AI hype from opportunity
  • You were investing in AI tools and wanted to optimize ROI
  • You managed development teams and wanted to drive faster delivery with AI tools
  • You wanted to understand what separated the teams that succeeded with AI from the ones that didn’t
