Outdated Fleet Tools Limit Dealer Insights

The company’s telematics app was over five years old and could no longer keep pace with modern browser standards or mobile use. It had become hard to maintain, and hosting added more costs and limits.

Dealers wanted more than the one-size-fits-all tool could offer. They needed custom reporting, better dashboards, and deeper insights into their equipment data. Internal teams did not have the skills to deliver these changes, and the pressure to modernize grew urgent.

Fleet managers needed flexible tools to track and manage equipment in real time.

Reimagining a Global Telematics Application

SEP partnered closely with the client to modernize their global telematics platform for today’s browsers and mobile devices. The work began with discovery sessions and feedback from customer experts, which helped shape the roadmap of improvements.

As we modernized the platform, we built:

  • Smarter fleet management tools — A redesigned interface with dashboards, custom reports, equipment mapping, and exception handling, delivered in four languages.
Comprehensive dashboards — Centralized views of equipment data, including location, usage, fuel burn, and idling time, so fleet managers could make better decisions.
  • An ISO-compliant data API — Opening access to the same fleet data displayed in dashboards, enabling integration with other systems.
  • A notification hub — A single place for users to sort and manage incoming alerts, ensuring important updates aren’t missed.
  • Device management tools — Capabilities to register and organize terminal devices across fleets, giving managers more control.

By embedding Agile practices and shifting to a cloud-based architecture, SEP not only delivered these new features but also created a foundation for faster releases and long-term scalability.
