Carmel, IN – Software Engineering Professionals (SEP), a leader in custom software development, announces the appointment of Raman Ohri as President. Jeff Gilbert, previously in this role, will remain as CEO.
Since becoming an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) in 2010, Gilbert’s succession planning has been at the top of his priority list.
“One of my personal secrets to success has been to hire good people and put them in a position to make SEP better,” said Gilbert. “Being a culture-based company it was imperative that our next president really understood SEP at a fundamental level – our history, our values, our vision.”
Since starting with SEP in 1993, Ohri has climbed the leadership ranks. Starting out as a software engineer, Ohri quickly took on a leadership role and helped create new products and systems in industries such as automotive, medical, pharmaceutical and aerospace. Most recently he served as Vice President of Engineering.
During his tenure, Ohri spearheaded the company’s recruiting and professional development efforts, focusing the company on slow but strategic hiring practices. He was instrumental in bringing the lean and agile movement to SEP, helping them become a nationally recognized thought leader in this space. Ohri has also been critical to SEP’s business development initiatives and led the effort to secure SEP’s largest client to date.
“From recruiting to employee development, from managing projects to leading us into new markets, Raman has made us better and will continue to do so in this new role,” said Gilbert.
Ohri earned his Bachelors of Science in Computer Engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
“I’ve grown up in SEP’s culture and could not be more excited about continuing what we have created here,” said Ohri. “We’ve built a truly special place and I look forward to building on our great foundation.”
